Requirements

Review the baseline requirements you should confirm before installing Evolution CMS in a local or production environment.

Before you install Evolution CMS 3, prepare both the runtime requirements and the project information the installer will ask for.

Runtime Baseline

  • PHP 8.3 or newer
  • a supported database and working credentials
  • a writable environment for cache and generated files
  • a web server or local stack that can serve the project correctly

For CLI Installation

  • Composer 2.x
  • shell access
  • network access if the installer must download releases or dependencies

Information to Prepare

  • database host, database name, database user, and database password
  • site URL and manager path expectations
  • admin account credentials
  • filesystem path and deployment target if you are not installing locally

Before You Start

If you are updating an existing site instead of creating a new one, make a full file and database backup first. See Backups and Updating Evolution.
