Not every project needs a huge application stack. One of the useful reminders in the old community discussions was that MODX Evolution stayed very practical for small and medium business sites, especially when the project was mostly template-driven and editor-friendly.

Typical Fit

  • small brochure or service sites
  • layouts built from PSD-based frontend work
  • a manageable set of TVs and reusable chunks
  • one small editorial team

The strength of Evolution here was not hype. It was speed of implementation and the ability to shape a custom site without dragging in more framework weight than the project needed.

That remains a useful ecosystem lesson even now: product fit matters as much as feature count.
